Sean Blum was born in San Francisco, California, and was raised and educated primarily in Antioch, California, and Friendswood, Texas. Mr. Blum graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1993 with a bachelor of arts degree in English. He received his juris doctorate in 1996 from The University of Houston Law Center. Mr. Blum was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1996 and to the Alabama State Bar in 2001.
Mr. Blum practiced law as a staff attorney and associate with the Williams Bailey Law Firm in Houston, Texas, upon graduation from law school in 1996 until 2000 and as an associate with the Beasley Allen Law Firm in Montgomery, Alabama, in 2001. He was appointed assistant reporter of decisions for the Alabama appellate courts in October 2001, and, in January 2021, he succeeded Bilee Cauley as the reporter of decisions for the Alabama appellate courts.
Mr. Blum is a member of the Association of Reporters of Judicial Decisions, an international professional association. He is married to Dr. Scout Blum, a professor of history at Troy University, and they have one child, Aidan.
