Circulation
General Policies
Since the law library is a research facility, much of the collection does not circulate outside the Library.
All books must be checked out before they are removed from the library.
Each patron to whom circulation privileges are granted is responsible for the return, in good condition,
of all materials borrowed.
All library materials are subject to immediate recall.
Patron Record Form
Users desiring to borrow library material for the first time are required to visit the library to
complete a Patron Record Form.
To complete the form, patrons must show identification: either a valid driver's license or non-driver
identification or a student ID.
Patrons must provide a current telephone number, e-mail address, and a street address; Post Office Box numbers will not be accepted.
Patrons are responsible for notifying the library of any changes in name, address, e-mail address, or phone number.
Interlibrary Loan
Materials that are not available at this library may be requested from other libraries.
Please see the section on Services for policies on Interlibrary Loan.
Renewals
Materials may be renewed unless they have been placed on hold for another person.
To request a renewal, please call the Reference Desk at 334.229.0563 or 1.800.236.4069.
Overdue, Lost or Damaged Items
Anyone checking out Law Library material is personally responsible for those items.
Patrons will be billed for costs incurred by the library for replacement of lost or damaged library materials.
Law Library privileges may be suspended until materials are returned or outstanding debts are paid.
Books on Reserve
Selected books on Alabama law and self help books on general legal topics are located in the Reserve section.
Books in the Reserve section are for in-library use only.
Reshelving Books
Patrons may leave books at the Circulation Desk for library staff to reshelve.
If materials are left in a carrel or on a table overnight, users must fill out a "Please Do Not Disturb These Books" slip so that the books will not be reshelved
by the Library staff.
Note: Confidential material should not be left unattended in the Law Library.
